Course Description
Welcome to Aviation History and Literature (AHL). This class is designed to expose students to the rich history of aviation and the literature and art that has been inspired by human flight. While we explore this fascinating field across multiple eras, we will work on building the necessary reading, writing, and presentation skills needed to succeed in higher education and on any career path. This course will examine themes in four topical units: Aviation Takes Flight, Aviation Milestones, Aviation in Warfare, and Aviation Gone Wrong. Students will be expected to describe the various people and events key to developments in the field of aviation in each of these areas. AHL students will read several non-fictional and fictional aviation-related selections to experience a diverse display of the interest and ingenuity surrounding the field of aviation. At the end of the course, students will be asked to complete a Creative Response Project to demonstrate new learning inspired by the content of the course.
