SIDE DISHES
Choose two of the following prompts to answer in 7-8 complete sentences.
1: If you could meet any of the notable figures in aviation, who would it be and why? Give an explanation of your choice and include the questions you would like to ask him/her.
2: Write a story about the photograph to the left. Use your imagination and creativity. What is happening? How did they get here? And what do you think their conversation has been leading up to this point?
3: We learned about a lot of different myths and legends of flight in class. Now it’s time to come up with your own. Write a story that embellishes or exaggerates aviation historical events, or come up with an original myth/legend of your own that explains how and why humans achieved flight.
4: Think of all the ways aviation has changed over the past 100 years– from the Wright Brothers invention to modern aircraft. Now, think about the next 100 years. What things in the aviation industry will change in the next 100 years? What will people in 100 years find weird about what we’re doing now? What new aviation milestones will be met?
5: What if Kickstarter (a website that allows people to raise money for creative projects via crowd funding) was available to the Wright Brothers for funding their experiments and invention? What would their Kickstarter page look like? What would the “incentives” be for each funding level? Be creative and imagine what a Wright Brothers Kickstarter would look like!
