Overview
This first stage of aviation history takes a look at the early fascination humans had with flight. From the ancient Greek legend of Daedalus and Icarus, to Leonardo da Vinci's ornithopter, to the widespread fascination of "ballooning," to the Wright Brothers' experiments at Kitty Hawk, people made significant advancements in flight, which offered unprecedented freedom to people world-wide, formerly bound by time and distance. What began as a mere dream to fly like the birds, slowly became a reality, and understanding these foundational discoveries is key to having an understanding and appreciation for how the industry evolved over time.
